Concert in aid of Alzheimers Scotland
Our concert, held in the Park Hotel at the beginning of February, was a great success. We had a great evening with special guests The Aeolian Male Voice Choir, Rebecca Herd and Sean Morrison contributing to a night of musical variety!

The band was pleased with the level of fund-raising achieved over the very busy Christmas of 2015. Thanks to all members of the public who donated so generously. Your contributions will help keep the band going over the next year, with several more concerts planned and other local events on the agenda.
January 2016
well, Christmas fundraising madness is over for another year. The band had a really successful season, with concerts, carolling, church services and other fundraising events throughout December.
We have been sorry to say goodbye to our soprano player, Katie Ankers as she moves on to pastures new, having been offered the soprano seat with Kirkintilloch Band, a Championship section band. We wish her the very best in her new role, and every success in the years to come. She will be sorely missed by Kilmarnock, both for her playing and her involvement in the committee.

We will also have a Face painting stall for the kiddies. The band will also be performing over the course of the morning, so come along and enjoy some Festive fun!

Dundonald Castle Review
Kilmarnock Concert Brass provided the entertainment last Sunday afternoon for an invited audience of loyal supporters to the final concert of this season’s series held in the Laigh Hall of the Castle by the Friends of Dundonald Castle.
On a weekend when it was “pure dead brilliant” to be a Killie Fan, the band provided a musical extravaganza with a programme containing the inspiring music of John Barry, Broadway Melodies, through to Queens Bohemian Rhapsody and a finally of Scottish Melodies.
There were excellent solo performances under the band’s conductor Raymond Tennant, with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Gethsemane” featuring Katie Ankers on the Soprano Cornet, followed by Yvonne Gray on the Flugel Horn, with Cole Porter’s “I’ve got you under my skin”.
Perhaps the highlight of the evening was the band’s unique performance of “I wish I could shimmy like my sister Kate” mimicking the tone and sound of the wind up gramophone of yesteryears.
The audience left the Castle very appreciative of an inspiring performance by a very talented band.

Summer Concert Review:
From the first note it was obvious that the band had been well rehearsed and had practised hard for the concert. This was evident in the confident approach to each variation in style, tempo, dynamic, rhythmic challenge, togetherness in ensemble, balance and quality of tone. There was a general feeling of "oneness". The soloists, Katie, Yvonne & Karen all played with authority and showed control and musicianship. Each solo was enhanced by the band's sympathetic accompaniments. Special acknowledgment should be made of Katie's excellent soprano cornet solo. Throughout the evening the percussion section added greatly to the style of each piece - well done. I also need to mention the guitar & bass guitar additions, which helped to make those pieces more authentic. In summing up, a very varied selection of music, something for everyone, well prepared and performed to a high standard. Well done to Ray for his choice of pieces, which were enjoyable for the audience yet demanding for the players, and for his informative comments throughout the concert. I was also delighted to see a number of former players "back where they belong." WELL DONE EVERYONE! I look forward to the next event.
