Recruiting now
Below is a message from our Musical Director.
Kilmarnock Concert Brass was formed in 1970 as Kilmarnock Youth Band by its present Musical Director Andrew H Keachie MBE DRSAM. Membership was made up of pupils receiving brass tuition in schools in the Kilmarnock Area. This tuition in schools was provided by the local education authority. The band however was set up as an outlet for those young people wishing to play in a brass band out with school. The band has taken part in concerts and contests in major venues throughout Great Britain. The band has been privileged over the years to work with outstanding performers an conductors. During the 37 year existence the band has developed its own players with a senior band, "B" band and "C" band, thus ensuring continuity.
However, since our Musical Director retired from teaching in August 2005 the supply of players has ceased. The band are now in a position where they need to invite any former players, or any players to consider membership of Kilmarnock Concert Brass. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays and Fridays and are held in the band room at Samson Avenue.
